Tal como era de esperar, las polémicas se han encendido ni bien se dieron a conocer las 93 nominaciones a los premios Oscar 2021.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas y Nick Jonas fueron los encargados de anunciar las nominaciones a los premios Oscar 2021 que se entregarán el próximo 25 de abril, probablemente en una ceremonia semi-virtual que será transmitida por ABC.
Por primera vez en la historia de los premios Oscar, dos mujeres han sido nominadas en el rubro MEJOR DIRECCIÓN: Chloé Zhao por Nomadland y Emerald Fennell por Promising Young Woman.

IGNORADOS PARA LOS PREMIOS OSCAR 2021
SPIKE LEE
El prestigioso director fue altamente elogiado por su película Da 5 Blood pero no fue suficiente como para obtener una nueva nominación a los premios Oscar.
REGINA KING
One Nigth In Miami, protagonizada por Kingsley Ben Adir (Recientemente confirmado como protagonista de Secret Invasion), obtuvo una nominación a un papel secundario para el actor Leslie Odom Jr. y a mejor guión adaptado. Sin embargo, Regina King, no será reconocida como directora de la película en los premios Oscar.
TOM HANKS
El reconocido y multipremiado actor tampoco será reconocido por su interpretación en New of the World, película sobre la Guerra Civil dirigida por Paul Greengrass.
MA RAINEYPS BLACK BOTTOM
Tanto el fallecido actor Chadwick Boseman y Viola Davis, protagonistas de Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, fueron nominados por sus respectivos roles. No obstante, la película dirigida por George C. Wolfe no aspira a recibir ninguna estatuilla.
AMY ADAMS
Amy Adams tampoco ha sidno nominada por su papel en Hillbilly Elegy.
STACEY ABRAMS
Una de las candidatas a mejor documental, All In: The Fight for Democracy, tampoco obtuvo ninguna nominación.
DICK JOHNSON HA MUERTO
La película de Kirsten Johnson ganó el premio a Critics ‘Choice Documentary Award al mejor documental y fue nombrada como uno de los cinco mejores documentales del año por la National Board of Review. También ganó premios de varios grupos de críticos, así como un premio especial del jurado a la innovación en la narración de historias de no ficción en el Festival de Cine de Sundance del año pasado.
No obstante, tampoco ha recibido ningún reconocimiento por parte de la Academia.
ELEB BURSTYN
La protagonista de Pieces of a Woman era una de las canidatas a ser nominada como mejor actriz pero no resultó nominada.
Los ganadores se conocerán el próximo 25 de abril.
